Company paramedics are trained more extensively than first aiders. Beyond the elementary first aid measures, these highly qualified paramedics have also learned, for example, how to use equipment such as bag-valve masks or secretion suction pumps.
Medical service for companies
We are your reliable company medical service for firms, enterprises or businesses with
- more than 1,500 insured persons present
- more than 100 insured persons present, if the type, severity and number of accidents require it
Occupational safety laws require employers to provide company paramedics when the existing hazard potential creates an increased need for emergency care. To comply with these regulations, the company can employ its own paramedics or commission an external medical service for businesses.
What does a company paramedic do?
In the event of workplace accidents and acute health disorders, the company paramedic’s task is to provide first aid and avert dangers to life and health. Their main activity lies in the field of extended first aid. Depending on the type and severity of the injury, the company paramedic is called to the scene or visited by the injured person – in contrast to first aiders, who are at or near possible accident sites and are therefore immediately available to provide first aid.
Only someone who has completed training at an institution recognised by the employers’ liability insurance association (Berufsgenossenschaft) can be employed as a company paramedic. This is not a separate vocational training but a qualification or further training for people in medical professions, for example from the emergency services.
Why do you need a company paramedic?
At least one company paramedic must be available in smaller businesses where, as a rule, more than 100 insured persons are present at the same time and where their deployment is necessary because of the expected type, severity and number of accidents. In larger businesses where, as a rule, more than 1,500 insured persons are present at the same time, at least one company paramedic must be available.
Industrial plants and construction sites are known accident hot spots that must have a seamless chain of rescue in an emergency. Company paramedics are specially trained for the particular requirements in this environment. As an external medical service, we can offer you tailor-made safety concepts for health protection in your company that comply with the regulations of the employers’ liability insurance associations.
What are the advantages of external medical services?
Behind an external company paramedic stands not only an extensive safety team but also high-quality, state-of-the-art equipment. Providing these services in-house would require a high financial outlay.
As an external medical service for companies, we provide our customers with the following equipment for health protection or in the event of accidents:
- Response vehicles with the latest technology
- First aid backpacks for fast deployment on site
- Defibrillators and appropriately trained staff
- Medical care on site through our mobile medical station
